Module Development PDF Print E-mail

The CHE modules were designed to enhance the learning experiences of high school and middle school students who attend regional transition workshops such as New World Day at UVa-Wise, Real World Day at Radford University, or local transition events. The CHE modules are divided into two parts: “Secondary I Modules” for middle school students and “Secondary II Modules” for high school students. The modules focus specifically on career awareness, leadership skills, and assistive technology.

The Secondary I and II modules are further categorized into "Pre-event" and "Post event" modules. Pre-event lesson modules are used by students who need to engage in the idea of transition planning and its importance in their life. These modules are given to the student prior to attending a transition workshop. The pre-event modules familiarize students with the topics and resources that they will encounter at the transition event.

The second category is the “Post event” modules which are to be used after students attend the transition event. The post event modules provide additional information and activities so students can put the transition strategies learned at the workshop into action. See the Module Chart (pdf) for a graphic that shows the relationship between the modules and the transition workshops.

Each learning module is composed of educator designed lessons, instructions, resources, and learning activities with content relevant to the Standards of Learning (SOL).  More specifically, each lesson includes essential questions, goals and objectives, a materials list, a pre-lesson assessment, vocabulary terms, the lesson, handouts, teacher resources, questions for reflection, universal design strategies, post-lesson assessment, and grade level SOLs.

We are happy to provide you with these educator-developed CHE Learning Modules. We hope you find them helpful to you, your students, and their families.
